1. The Committee confirmed all payments made by the H.K. & S.E's Corporation during the period December 1st 1941 to February 20th 1946 L Schedule F of appended Statement of

Accounts,

2. It was agreed that for the present, subject to any exceptions recorded in the Minutes

of this Committee, salary payments to members of the Sterling paid staff of the University should cease at August 31st 1945. The question of payments of members of the staff required to return to Hong Kong (for the period between that date and the date of their return to duty is left for the decision of the University Council when it is reconstituted.

(Payments made by the authority of this Comittee are subject to adjustment when the final figures of advances and of payments received by officers from military, naval and civil sources are ascertained.

Payments made to members of staff are subject to their agreement to return to duty if required, except in the case of Dr. S.Healots whose services are transferred to the Government of Hong Kong. from white dali

(a) The Comittee authorized the payment of salary as shown in Colum 10

of Schedule B & the Statement of Accounts.

The Committee authorized the payment from the General Fund of the University to the Sterling Provident Fund of : sum of Eighteen thousand nine hundred and twenty four pounds, twelve shillings and one penny (£18,924. 12: 1a). (Vide Schedule D of The Statement of Account).

The Committee authorized the payment a Hong Kong ex gratia of one years salary to al" full-time members of the staff shown in Schedule G of this appended Statement of Accounts except to such as worked for the benefit of the Japanese. Mr. Morse was authorized to arrange for these payments in Hong Kong, at the cost of the University,

Mr. D.J.Sloss was authorized() to draw cheques on the Current Account of the University in the office of the H.K.& B's Corporation in London.

to arrange with the Manager of that Office of the Bank for such sale of securities held on behalf of the Sterling Provident Fund of the University as may be necessary to meet claims on the Fund by officers returning from the service of the University and by the executors of men deceased.

The Committee authorized the payment, of Prov. Fund claims as shown in schedule E of the appended Statement of Accounts (a) to officers to whom payments are due because of retirement.

Mr. Sloss (a) was appointed to carry out the current duties of the office of Vice Chancellor with effect from September 1st 1945 at a pay of half the normal salary paid te the Vice Chancellor

(b) was authorized to appoint a secretary at a salary and from a date to be reported to the Comdttee.

(c) was authorized to incur such expenditure as may be necessary to maintain a temporary office of the University in London.

8. The Committee authorized payment of passages, unless passages rre chargemale against

public funds, for Messrs. F.Weller S.Boxer and for Professors R.M.Simpson and R.Robert son to enable them to return to duty in Hong Kong. Salaries according th their

contracts with the University are payable to their officers from the date of their
